Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves) have issued a statement addressing recent reports of two players being arrested on rape charges. The statement, shared on social media, denies any involvement of their players in the alleged incident, which reportedly occurred last Friday evening.

The Midlands side is the first to break its silence since news of the arrests emerged on Tuesday evening, citing concern for "player welfare" as their reason for speaking out.

The statement read, "A newspaper article published yesterday has triggered inappropriate online speculation over the identities of two individuals reportedly under investigation. Whilst we would not typically comment on ongoing police matters, in order to protect the welfare of our young players, we feel it is necessary to confirm that the allegations do not relate to anyone at Wolves."

Recall that it was reported that two premier league players were arrested by police officers in the UK after being accused of rape and assault.
