Why Real Madrid will pay Chelsea £5m for reaching the Champions League final
Reports now indicate that Chelsea will be receiving 5 million pounds from Real Madrid for progressing to the UEFA Champions League final.
According to a report from the Telegraph UK, Chelsea is set to receive a substantial sum, estimated to be around five million pounds, as a bonus following Real Madrid's qualification for the UEFA Champions League final.
This bonus is part of the deal involving Eden Hazard's transfer to Real Madrid, despite the fact that the player retired from football seven months ago.
Why will Chelsea receive 5 million pounds from Real Madrid?
Real Madrid signed Hazard in 2019 for a package worth £130 million, including more than £40 million in add-ons based on his performance.
The latest add-on was triggered after Carlo Ancelotti's team advanced past Bayern Munich and came within one victory of winning the European championship.

Hazard and Real Madrid agreed to terminate his contract last summer, and he announced his retirement in October. However, the terms of his transfer from Stamford Bridge remain in effect.
Chelsea will receive a relatively small amount compared to current transfer fees, but the windfall is still appreciated as they aim to comply with the Premier League's financial rules.
Chelsea received around £88 million upfront for Hazard, with the rest of the fee consisting of achievable bonuses, such as Real Madrid reaching major European finals.
