Following the recent agreement reached by the Cameroonian Football Federation and Manchester United, Andre Onana might not feature in Cameroon's first AFCON 2023 fixture which is to be played on January 15, 2024.

Andre Onana has been confirmed to be available for Man United ahead of their FA Cup tie against Wigan Athletic and also the premier league fixture against Tottenham Hotspur before he goas ahead to hoin Cameroon a day before their first fixture of AFCON 2023.

According to The Athletic UK, the Cameroon Football Federation reached an agreement with Manchester United to allow the goalkeeper to feature in these games before meeting up with other players in camp.

The reason behind this decision is understandable as Andre Onana who had initially announced his retirement from international football with Cameroon, was not expected by the club to feature in any national competition.

Athletic stated, "Equally, FECAFOOT accepts that United did not expect to lose Onana at a key point in the season and is reluctant for his involvement to come at the expense of continuing to perform at the top level of domestic competition in England. Given its role in his decision, FECAFOOT wanted to work with United to strike a compromise that maximises Onana’s game time for both teams."
