The interim coach of the Red Devils, Michael Carrick, shared his opinion on the importance of Maguire to the team, but insisted that the defender is a huge part of the club’s project, despite not knowing what the future holds for the English International at Old Trafford.

He said,

"Within the squad, we always want that balance, that younger potential, excitement with development players, and experience is important. Harry is an impressive character. He’s had a great career so far; hopefully, there is a lot more to come"

Reports are suggesting that talks are expected or already taking place for an extension, though the terms have not agreed upon yet. Maguire might need to take a wage cut to stay because of the club’s financial priorities.
