have reportedly submitted a €30 million bid for Nigerian defender, Chibuike Godfrey Nwaiwu, as the Premier League club steps up its pursuit of the highly-rated centre-back ahead of the 2026/27 season.

According to reports, Trabzonspor have rejected the offer, as they are unwilling to part with the defender for less than €35 million. The Turkish club are said to value Nwaiwu highly and are determined to hold out for their asking price.

Despite the initial setback, West Ham remain keen on signing the Nigerian international, who has emerged as one of the club's top defensive targets during the summer transfer window. Negotiations between the two clubs are expected to continue in the coming days as the Hammers look to reach an agreement.

Nwaiwu's impressive performances have attracted interest from several clubs, but West Ham appear to be leading the race for his signature. Should a deal be reached, the move would represent one of the biggest transfers involving a Nigerian defender this summer.

With the transfer window still open, attention now turns to whether West Ham will improve their offer to meet Trabzonspor's valuation and secure the services of the promising defender before the start of the new season.
