Julen Lopetegui is the latest manager to get the sack letter in the Premier League following the decision of West Ham United to terminate his contract.

The Hammers confirmed in a statement on its official website on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, after a series of bad results at the club across all competitions. According to West Ham, the decision to sack Julen Lopetegui was because of the current situation of the club in the league as it does not align with their plans after the first half of the season.

The statement read as follows,

"The first half of the 2024/25 season has not aligned with the Club’s ambitions and the Club has therefore taken action in line with its objectives. The Club can confirm that Assistant Head Coach Pablo Sanz, Head of Performance Oscar Caro, Head Analyst Juan Vicente Peinado, Fitness Coach Borja De Alba and Technical Coach Edu Rubio have also left with immediate effect. The Board would like to thank Julen and his staff for their hard work during their time with the Hammers and wish them every success for the future. The process of appointing a replacement is underway."

Lopetegui succeeded David Moyes towards the end of the 2023/24 season after the Scot left at the end of his contract; the Spanish won only six league matches and has the team 14th in the table despite spending more than £130m on transfers.
