It was all tears of joy for Nigeria's sensation, Oluwatobiloba Amusan at the World Athletics Championship that is hosted in Oregon.

She achieved this feat in the final of the 100 meters hurdles as she became the first Nigerian to win Gold at the competition. Amusan won the race with a World record time of 12.06 seconds, she had earlier broken the record in the semi-finals where she clocked a time of 12.12 seconds.

However, the record time of Amusan In the final will not be recognised by the body following a strong wind of 2.5 meters per second. Jamaica’s Britany Anderson took silver in 12.23sec, while Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico claimed bronze in 12.23.

The Nigerian now holds the new world record of 12.12 seconds breaking the record of 12.20 seconds set by Keni Harrison of the United States in 2016.
