Former Manchester City player, Benjamin Mendy has been declared not guilty by the Chester Crown Court of all rape allegations charged against him.

The France International was accused of raping a woman at his home in Cheshire in October 2020. He was also charged with the attempted rape of a 29-year-old woman at his home two years earlier.

Benjamin Mendy has always denied both charges, he was found not guilty by the jury of six men and six women at Chester Crown Court. According to the defender, the encounters he had with every one of them were consensual.

Earlier this year the footballer had been found not guilty of sexual offences against several women but the jury was unable to reach verdicts on the two charges. Mendy was approached by some newsmen to ask how he felt now that he was a free man. He responded by saying "Thank God"

Mendy became the Premier League's most expensive defender when he joined City from Monaco for £52m in 2017. He won three titles with City and was part of France's World Cup-winning squad in 2018.
