Former world heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko has advised Anthony Joshua to not take the easy way out by sidestepping the Oleksandr Usyk rematch.

On September 25, 2021, Anthony Joshua lost his world heavyweight title to Oleksandr Usyk. It was a boxing match that took place at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, and it was tagged as "The Perfect Storm." In an interview with Sky Sport, the boxing legend, Vitali Klitschko, advised Anthony Joshua, who had triggered the rematch clause in his contract, not to show any sign of weakness by not fighting Oleksandr Usyk for a second time.

Anthony Joshua had lost his unified titles to Usyk in September 2021, and the fact that he had triggered the rematch clause had sparked many rumors, with it being reported that Joshua was about to be paid a whopping sum of 15 million pounds to step aside and allow Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk to fight instead.

However, Joshua denied this and vowed to still go ahead with the fight, although a specific date has still not been decided for the bout to take place, the location is speculated to be Wembley stadium.

With the rumor of Anthony Joshua stepping down from Tyson Fury to take on Oleksandr Usyk instead, Vitali Klitschko advised Joshua promptly not to consider such an option.

He said to him:

"But my personal opinion? If Joshua sidesteps in this moment, when the boxing audience expects a rematch and wants to see Joshua vs Usyk, it would show weakness.

"Joshua, don't do that please.

Vitali Klitschko added:

"Everyone expects the rematch between Usyk and Joshua. Usyk is so strong or did Joshua make mistakes? Who is stronger? That question interests every boxing fan. Let's receive an answer. That's why this fight must happen.
