Victor Osimhen reportedly rejects big money transfer to Man United

Recent reports indicate that Victor Osimhen has rejected a big money move to Man United in the January 2025 transfer window.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is reportedly upset with Victor Osimhen after the Nigerian striker turned down a potential transfer to Man United in the January 2025 window. Since September, Osimhen has been excelling on loan at Galatasaray, scoring 10 goals in 15 league appearances. Despite interest from the Premier League giants, Osimhen remains committed to staying with Galatasaray until the end of the season.

According to reports, his decision has frustrated De Laurentiis, who views it as another instance of the player complicating matters for Napoli. The club had been aiming to secure a €81 million sale in January, but Osimhen's stance has put that plan in jeopardy. If he remains with Galatasaray until the summer, his release clause will decrease to €75 million.

The summer of 2024 saw multiple top-tier clubs vying for Osimhen’s signature:

  1. Paris Saint-Germain: The French champions were early contenders for the striker but failed to finalize a deal.
  2. Chelsea: The London club made an attempt to sign him, but disagreements over valuation and the player’s preferences stalled negotiations.

Despite this widespread interest, Osimhen stayed with Napoli, and De Laurentiis has been vocal about his determination to keep him. However, the recent fallout suggests the player's future at Napoli is far from settled, and a transfer remains a possibility.

According to La Repubblica, De Laurentiis expressed his frustration over the latest development by stating, "Then let him stay where he is. Tell Galatasaray to keep Osimhen."
