Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has been awarded the Bundesliga's Rookie of the Season for his remarkable debut season with Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayer Leverkusen's rising star, Victor Boniface, has clinched the prestigious title of the 2023/2024 Bundesliga Rookie of The Season due to his remarkable performance in his first season in the German top flight.

The talented Nigerian striker outshone competitors such as Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen, who made a strong impression at Borussia Dortmund after joining in January, RB Leipzig's Xavi Simons, on loan from PSG, and Hoffenheim's forward Maximilian Beier.

Despite his young age, the 23-year-old left a significant mark on the German football scene, securing four consecutive Rookie of the Month awards from August to November 2023.

His win was confirmed by the league in a post on the social media platform X formerly known as Twitter which read, "And the winner is Victor Boniface. Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface takes home the #BLRookie of the Season award from Sorare after making an instant impact to the Bundesliga — in which he won four Rookie of the Month trophies in a row. Congrats Victor!”

Victor Boniface also took to the social media platform to share a post where he thanked fans for their unrelenting support in making the award possible.

Victor Boniface has had what many would categorise as a successful first-season campaign with Bayer Leverkusen so far.

Boniface, who made the move to Leverkusen from Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise last summer, showcased his prowess by scoring 13 league goals, despite missing three months due to injury, and also netted five times in the Europa League.

He has also been named in the German Bundesliga team of the season for his immense contribution towards his team winning the league title.
