Liverpool suffer huge injury blow ahead of Carabao Cup final

The head coach of Liverpool Football Club, Arne Slot shared heartbreaking news with the supporters of the club as he confirmed that the Reds will be without Trent Alexander-Arnold for the Carabao Cup clash against Newcastle United.
Arne Slot was speaking during the pre-match press conference ahead of the Carabao Cup final when he was asked for an update on the fitness of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Kon,ate and whether Jarell Quansah and Wataru Endo are his options at right-back, with Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez been ruled out.
He said,
"I think maybe even Curtis [Jones] can play there. And you can also play as a left-footed defender on the right side, which is what Newcastle do at the moment but on the opposite [side]. So, Trent is indeed not available. He will not be there at the final. But he is still to be assessed for how long it’s going to take but we do expect him back in the end of the season. What about Ibou Konate? We didn’t train yesterday, we were on a day off and the day before was recovery, so I expect him to train with us today but let’s see how he is.”
Konate was taken out during extra-time of the Reds’ Champions League defeat by Paris Saint-Germain midweek after Alexander-Arnold had been forced off in the second half due to injury.
However, Liverpool supporters will hope that they win their first trophy of the season when they face Newcastle United on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
