#Tokyo2020: Blessing Okagbare Suspended After Drug Test!

Nigerian track and Field Athlete, Blessing Okagbare, has been suspended with immediate effect by the Athletics Integrity Unit from the ongoing Tokyo Olympic Games.

This was announced on Saturday, July 31st, 2021 via the official Twitter account of the unit. In making this announcement, the tweet stated that Okagbare was suspended because one of her out-of-competition tests samples came back positive for human Growth Hormone, a prohibited substance by the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List.

The sample was collected from the Athlete on Monday, July 19th, 2021. A laboratory accredited by the (WADA) analyzed the sample, then notified the Integrity Unit of the result on Saturday, July 30th, 2021.

The Sprinter was notified of these findings and of her immediate suspension from the games. This means Okagbare would not take part in the semi-finals of the women's 100 meters today.

It has been a disastrous week for Nigerian Athletics this week, following the ban of ten athletes and now the suspension of medal hopeful Okagbare.
