Chelsea Football Club are reportedly set to appoint a new chairman as a replacement for Todd Boehly in s a role at the club in 2027.

An agreement between Clearlake Capital and the American co-owners means the chairmanship can pass between themselves every five years when they purchased the club in 2022. According to reports from Chelsea, the board have decided to trigger that clause at the end of the 2026/27 season.

However, with Boehly set to leave his role in 2027, he could return as club chairman in 2032 at the end of the next five-year cycle. He was named as the first chairman of the club in 2022 despite only holding a minority stake.

The majority shareholders are Clearlake Capital, managed by Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano, the pair have a 61.5 percent stake, while Boehly has an equal split alongside Hansjorg Wyss and Mark Walter of the remaining 38.5 percent.

A new chairman has not been picked ahead of 2027, either Eghbali or Feliciano could take the role themselves or someone could be appointed to the post.
