The Manager of Chelsea Football Club, Thomas Tuchel, has spoken about the interview that was released by Sky Sports as it concerns Romelu Lukaku's state of mind at the club.
Tuchel was speaking in a press conference ahead of Chelsea Premier League against Liverpool on Sunday, January 2nd, 2022, at Stamford Bridge. The German expressed his disgust about the release interview. According to him, it was giving the club unnecessary noise that he does not need.
We do not like it of course, because it brings noise that we do not need and it is not helpful. But on the other side we do not want to make more out of it than it actually is. It is very easy to take lines out of context; it is very easy to shorten lines, make headlines, and later realise that it is not bad, it is not what you meant. I do not seem him unhappy. I feel exact opposite if you ask me yesterday morning. If there is something, it is behind closed doors for sure.
He also confirmed that he will discuss the interview with Lukaku and it will be done behind closed doors and also openly.
It does not reflect the daily work, it does not reflect the behaviour Romelu displays at Cobham. We will discuss behind closed doors. We will do it openly. No further comment.
Lukaku has been in excellent form since returning from injury and Covid, having scored in two consecutive league games against Aston Villa and Burnley. Chelsea fans will hope the recent revelation does not affect his performance when they face Liverpool.
