Thomas Tuchel Breaks Silence on Cesar Azpilicueta’s Transfer Saga
The manager of Chelsea Football Club, Thomas Tuchel has spoken about the rumour that is linking Cesar Azpilicueta to Barcelona ahead of the new season.
The German was speaking at a press conference during the club’s pre-season training session ahead of the club’s game against Arsenal Football Club. Tuchel expressed his anger with the way Barcelona is treating the situation that concerns the Blues captain.
I am not sure I want to give Azpi what he wants. We have a Spanish international player, captain but Barcelona does not see it on that level – so I’m not sure if I want to give Azpi what he wants. Maybe I’m a little bit annoyed with Barça. But I do my best for Chelsea. I said that to Azpilicueta, he doesn’t like it – but he understands. It is tough for him because the other club [Barça] is permanently on him.
Tuchel has spoken about strengthening the team’s defence ahead of the new season after he lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen to Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively. However, the Blues have brought in Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly from Manchester City and Napoli
