Thomas Partey Speaks on Jorginho Replacing Him at Arsenal

Thomas Partey has for the first time spoken in public as it concerns the arrival of Jorginho from Chelsea during the 2023 January transfer window.

The Ghanaian midfielder has been at the center of Arsenal's quest to win the Premier League for the first time in 19 years. Party has gone down the pecking order in recent weeks due to a series of bad results in the league which saw the Gunners drop 9 points in four games.

Jorginho has been picked as a preferred option ahead of Partey but the former Atletico Madrid player does not seem to have any issues with the decision of Mikel Arteta, according to his interview with Evening Standard.

I have always had competition, which is good for me. I enjoy it. I am happy for him because, for a couple of weeks, he was the best at training, and then at the end, you see that in the game. I am really happy for him and also happy that every player is ready to step in, so nobody can sleep. I think it is good and I hope everyone in that position will be ready to step in when they have the chance. The purpose of the club is to create competition and that helps the club to grow more and also pushes us to be able to give our best in the game. Anytime you have good competition, with no problems, it is the best way to achieve what you want to achieve.

The Gunners will host Brighton while City play Everton, both sides can not afford anything less than victory in the remaining games this season. Arsenal are currently a point behind the league leaders, Manchester City.
