Ronaldo showed his displeasure after he was substituted in the second half of the game against the Magpies on Sunday, October 16th, 2022. According to Ten Hag, the reaction from Ronaldo was understandable because no player is happy when they get substituted in a game.

I think no player is happy when he [is taken] off, especially not Ronaldo, I understand that. As long as it is [done] in a quite normal way, [I have] no problem with that. He is, of course, convinced that he should stay on and he should score a goal. That is why he is that good. I know it [the hat-trick], but, and, of course, when you line up several facts you take count of, but also other facts you take count of.

The 37-year-old recently scored his 700th club career goal and will ve looking to break more records before he leaves the Red Devils or quit football.
