Super Eagles receive Presidential award from President Bola Tinubu

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were hosted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after the team finished in second place at the just concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The three-time AFCON winner was hosted at the State House Council Chambers in Abuja on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, only a few hours after the players arrived in Nigeria from Abidjan. Nigeria lost the final game 2-1 against Cote d'Ivoire which was played on Sunday, February 11, 2024.

All members of the Super Eagles team have been awarded with the Member of the Order of Niger (MON) by the President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, a flat each and a plot of land in the Federal Capital Territory.

Nigeria took the lead in the match after William Troost-Ekong scored a beautiful header in the first half, but Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller scored in the second half which gave the Ivorians the trophy.

The Super Eagles arrived in the country in the early hours of Tuesday, they were welcomed by a crowd of people with Nigerian flags at the airport. The fans clapped and cheered as the players descended from the plane.
