Super Eagles of Nigeria defender joins Premier League side, Fulham

A Super Eagles of Nigeria defender has made a move many did not see coming to a top side in the premier league, Fulham FC.

The talented possessed by players from Nigeria are now being recognized on the big stage as another star player of the side has made a move to the premier league by joining Fulham FC.

Calvin Bassey has been unveiled as the latest signing of Fulham ahead of the 2023/2024 club football season from the Dutch side Ajax.

The move was confirmed today, Friday, July 28, 2023, by the club side in an official statement that read, "The Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Calvin Bassey from Ajax for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance, which is expected to be received during the early part of next week. The 23-year-old defender has agreed a contract until the summer of 2027, with a Club option to extend by a further 12 months. Bassey will wear the number three shirt this season."

Calvin Bassey also spoke about the importance of the move for him as a player, as he said, "I know how big of a club Fulham is. They always have quality players; they’re playing in the Premier League, the best league in the world, so I didn’t have to think much about it. It’s a London club as well, so it’s always a plus to go home! I’m happy it’s all done now, and I can just focus on the football and help the team build on last season, when they did amazing.”
