First-choice goalkeeper of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Stanley Nwabali, has officially left his club side, Chippa United football club.
South African side Chippa United football club have officially announced the departure of Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, following his standout performances for the Super Eagles at the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The club confirmed in an official statement that the 29-year-old shot-stopper personally requested to leave, and management approved his exit after reviewing the situation.
Chippa United expressed appreciation for Nwabali’s dedication during his spell with the team, acknowledging his professionalism and commitment throughout his stay in the Eastern Cape.
Nwabali joined the Chilli Boys in 2022 after moving from Nigerian club Katsina United. During his time at Chippa, he made 76 appearances and recorded 25 clean sheets, establishing himself as a key figure in the squad.
His reputation has grown significantly in recent months, especially after playing a crucial role in Nigeria’s run to the AFCON final, which has fueled growing interest regarding his next club.
The goalkeeper also shared an emotional farewell message, describing his time at Chippa United as more than just a professional experience. He thanked his teammates, coaches, supporters, and the club’s chairman, whom he described as a father figure.
