A first-half hat trick from Vinicius Jr. ensured that Real Madrid defeated Barcelona in the final of the Spanish Super Cup, which was played in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

The winger scored a brace in the opening ten minutes of the match, which ensured that Barcelona could not find their rhythm in the game. Robert Lewandowski pulled one back for Barcelona with a superb volley, but Vinicius converted a 39th-minute penalty to restore Galatico's two-goal lead.

Rodrygo added a fourth in the second half before Ronald Araujo was sent off to end any hope of Barcelona getting back into the game.

Barcelona's head coach, XaviHernandez, expressed his disappointment about the outcome of the game.

He said,

“I keep trusting the project and I keep trusting myself. We will keep going. Real Madrid deserved to win, we want to apologize to our fans. We were not at the level needed for this final".

This is the team's third straight victory in El Clasico and gave them a 13th Super Cup success which is one behind Barcelona's record of 14 wins.
