Slot reveals the only way Salah can rejoin Liverpool squad

Arne Slot has revealed the only way Mohamed Salah can redeem himself and make his way back into the Liverpool first team squad.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has indicated that Mohamed Salah will need to acknowledge his mistake if he hopes to return to the squad, while club captain Virgil van Dijk has promised to speak with his unsettled teammate. Tension has been rising since Salah’s outburst after Liverpool’s 3-3 draw against Leeds, which led to Slot leaving him out of the squad for the Inter Milan match.
Slot has kept the door open for Salah’s return but made it clear the next step must come from the player. He revealed he believes there is always a possibility for a player to come back, yet he did not confirm whether Salah will feature in the upcoming match against Brighton.
Adding to the uncertainty, Salah has suggested the Brighton game could be his farewell, expressing a desire to “say goodbye to the fans” before departing for AFCON.
Reports indicate that Slot signalled, both before and after Tuesday night’s game, that Salah could reclaim his place if he showed remorse and offered an apology. Speaking to compatriot Clarence Seedorf on Amazon Prime, he noted that the key question is whether Salah believes he made a mistake and who should take the initiative to resolve the situation.
According to goal.com, Van Dijk also commented on the issue, acknowledging he plans to talk with Salah but emphasising that any apology must come from the player himself. He explained that Salah has been expressing his frustrations in recent days and that the matter is something for the club to manage internally. With AFCON approaching and a long-standing friendship between the two, Van Dijk said their conversations will remain private as the team works to shut out external noise and stay focused.
