The people of Senegal received heartbreaking news from the country's football association as it concerns Sadio Mane.
The news of Mane's absence from the national team at the World Cup was confirmed on the official website of Senegal's football federation. According to reports from the Senegal team doctor Manuel Afonso, the result confirmed that Mane will not be available for the World Cup.

Mane had an operation in Innsbruck, Austria on Thursday, November 17th, 2022 to reattach a tendon to the head of his right fibula. The 30-year-old picked up the injury while he was playing for Bayern Munich in a German league game against Werder Bremen on November 8th, 2022.
Senegal's first game at the World Cup is against the Netherlands on Monday, November 21st, 2022 before playing host nation, Qatar and Ecuador in their final group game.
