Manchester United ace footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, has been named as Forbes' World's highest paid footballer for 2021, dethroning the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Mbappe, Lewandowski, and others.

According to Forbes, the ten highest-paid footballers are assumed to collect pre-tax earnings of $585 million this season, up from last year’s $570 million. Salaries and bonuses account for the majority of the total ($415 million), and are up a modest 2.6% from last year as most clubs remain cautious in the face of emerging Covid-19.

Following Ronaldo ($125 million) on the table is PSG's talisman, Lionel Messi ($110 million). His teammates Neymar ($95 million) and Mbappe ($43 million) follow suit, giving the French giants PSG three of the world’s five highest-paid players.

Making number 5 on the list is Liverpool's Mohammed Salah, the second Premier League player on the list with $41 million. Bayern Munich lethal striker Lewandowski follows with  $35 million, making the same amount with former Barcelona legendary player Andres Iniesta, who surprisingly made the list, claiming the 7th position.

Paul Pogba, Gareth Bale, and Eden Hazard complete the list in that order.
