Romelu Lukaku opts for another jersey number at Napoli

Reports have now confirmed that Romelu Lukaku has decided to opt for another jersey number at the Serie A side Napoli.

Following initial reports which suggested that the newly recruited striker for Napoli, Romelu Lukaku will be taking the number 9 jersey worn by the Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen, official reports have now confirmed his official jersey number at the club.

It was confirmed that Osimhen had been excluded from Napoli's squad for the 2024/2025 season, and speculations began to surface on social media indicating that his iconic number 9 jersey would be given to the newly signed Lukaku.

However, a recent post on the club’s X page which was shared today, Saturday, August 31st, 2024, featured a jersey with Lukaku’s name and the number 11, hinting at either a subtle response to the rumors or a possible change in plans.

Lukaku, who joined Napoli from Chelsea, is set to lead the attack for Antonio Conte’s side this season. It remains to be seen if the Belgian will take up the number 9 jersey as initially speculated.
