Chelsea midfielder reportedly set to leave on a permanent move

Chelsea Football Club could be without one of its midfielders, Renato Veiga, by the end of the January transfer window, which closes at the end of this month.

Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the possible exit of the Portuguese international this January transfer window as the Blues are looking to offload the midfielder. According to him, Chelsea are open to allowing Renato Veiga to leave the club, but it has to be on a permanent deal as a loan move is not an option.

There are also reports that Chelsea are asking price of up to £29million and will also request a sell-on clause to be included. They are not interested in loaning the 21-year-old out and are only prepared to sanction a permanent departure.

Chelsea were initially not ready to sell Renato Veiga but the defender had complained for the lack of game time and also him being currently played out of his preferred position which is centre-back. However, the Blues have Levi Colwill and Benoit Badiashile as preferred options in that position rather than the Portuguese.

Veiga has made 18 appearances for Chelsea, but only one of those has been a start in the Premier League. However, Enzo Maresca has used the defender as left-back or in midfield.
