Raphael Varane sends an emotional goodbye message to Manchester United supporters

Manchester United have confirmed that Raphael Varane will leave the club at the end of this current football season.

The Red Devils confirmed the news on its official website on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. According to the club, Raphael Varane will leave Manchester United upon the expiration of his three-year contract which he signed in 2021.

The Frenchman also always gave his best to the club whenever he was called upon for the three years he stayed at the club. Varane helped United to win their first major trophy in six years by lifting the 2023 Carabao Cup at Wembley Stadium in a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United.

The former Real Madrid player has been out due to injury since the defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on April 4, 2024. Manchester United supporters will hope they can see him play any of the final three games of the season against Newcastle, and Brighton, and the FA Cup final against Manchester City on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

The Frenchman sent an emotional video to the supporters of the club, he thanked them for the support that was shown to him during his time at the club.

He said,

"To you guys, supporters of Manchester United, it has been an amazing few years to play for this special club and wear that shirt. The first time I went to Old Trafford as a Man United player was insane. The atmosphere was amazing. I fell in love with the club, with the fans. You have to play for Manchester United to understand what that represents. For my kids, it's home here. It is going to be a special place for me for life. When the fans go to Wembley it's something they remember for life," he added, ahead of our latest trip to the national stadium on 25 May, to face Manchester City in the Emirates FA Cup final. To share that moment with them [winning the Carabao Cup last season] was absolutely amazing. Despite the fact we have had a difficult season, I am very positive for the future. The new owners are coming with a clear plan and a great strategy. I will see you at Old Trafford to say goodbye in the last home game this season. And it's going to be a very emotional day for me, for sure."
