The 63-year-old German was speaking in a press conference after the Red Devils 3-2 victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford on Thursday, December 2nd, 2021. According to Rangnick, the Blues were ready to offer him a four months contract hence the reason he rejected the offer.

At that time, when Chelsea contacted me they only spoke about the possibility of a four-month and not the possibility of fourther than that. Here we are talking about six and half months and a two-year advisory role. If a club like Manchester United contacts you, you cannot possibly turn it down.

The Blues went ahead to hire Thomas Tuchel in place of Frank Lampard. The German went to win the club's second UEFA Champions League trophy beating Manchester City in the final on Saturday, May 29th, 2021.

Rangnick will take charge of his first game when the Red Devils play Crystal Palace on Sunday, December 5th, 2021. Manchester United fans will hope the German can turn their season around.
