Tunisia defeated defending champions, France in their final group game of the World Cup. The North Africans equaled the record that was set by Senegal in 2002 who defeated the defending Champions France in their opening group game.

Tunisia had something to smile about in the competition as a goal scorer, Wahbi Khazri became the first African player in World Cup history to score in three consecutive starts. He was also directly involved in each of Tunisia's last five goals at the tournament.

France finished first in the group while Australia finished in second place Tunisia and Denmark finished third and fourth respectively.
