Premier League reveals nominees for manager of the month for August 2026

The Premier League has announced the nominees for the August 2026 Manager of the Month award, with four managers making the shortlist after impressive starts to the 2026/27 campaign.

Among the nominees are Mikel Arteta, Xabi Alonso, Enzo Maresca and Sergej Jakirovic, who all guided their teams to strong results during the opening weeks of the season.

Xabi Alonso enjoyed an excellent beginning to his Chelsea tenure, leading the Blues to victories in both of their opening league matches. Chelsea defeated Fulham 3-2 before edging Brighton 4-3 in an entertaining encounter.

Enzo Maresca has also started strongly at Manchester City, securing two wins from two matches. City came from behind to beat Bournemouth 2-1 before recording a convincing 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace. Mikel Arteta's Arsenal also made a perfect start to the new Premier League season, putting the Gunners among the early contenders for the title and earning their manager a place on the shortlist.

Sergej Jakirovic completes the four-man shortlist after overseeing an unbeaten opening period. His team's performances have earned recognition alongside the managers of some of the league's biggest clubs.

The winner of the August 2026 Manager of the Month award will be determined through a combination of fan voting and an expert panel. The Premier League is expected to announce the winner on 11 September 2026
