Premier League players risk more injuries as England face North Macedonia

Premier League clubs who have their players currently with the Three Lions will keep their fingers crossed as England face North Macedonia in the final Euro 2024 qualifying game.

The state of the pitch in North Macedonia has been a major concern for the players and their respective clubs. England's head coach, Gareth Southgate, has assured the clubs that he will not be taking any chances with the players when they take to the pitch.

He said, "That's why you want to make sure you're qualified well in advance. We said that right at the start of the qualifying campaign, you're never quite sure what you're going to get away from home.”

He also added, “No, we wouldn't take any chances with players. Jarrod Bowen hasn't travelled. He was just feeling something after training and we didn't have time to really assess it. It would probably need a scan to give us the confidence that we're not taking a chance. We never take a chance with a player, really.”

The pitch in North Macedonia is in terrible condition, having been relaid six weeks ago, and has a layer of coarse sand and stones on the top. However, England will top the group no matter what the result is against their opposition.
