The match between Brentford and Chelsea at the Community was very important for both sides and they were looking to overcome their recent run of results.

The Bees came into the game against Chelsea having lost their last three games against Liverpool, Manchester City and West Ham United. They conceded nine goals and scored just four goals in that poor run.

On the other hand, Chelsea came off a week of mixed feelings in Cup competitions against Liverpool and Leeds United. The Blues lost the Carabao Cup final against the Reds on Sunday, February 25, 2024, while they got past Leeds in the FA Cup to set up a quarter-final against Leicester.

Chelsea started the game against Brentford on a low key having missed a few chances but the opening goal of the game came off Nicolas Jackson who connected rightly from Malo Gusto. The Blues went into the half-time break, a goal ahead of their London neighbours.

The second half started with Brentford on the front foot as they took the game to Chelsea. However, the pressure eventually paid off in the 50th minute with Mads Roerselev. Things went from bad to worse for the Blues as Yaone Wissa put the Bees in front to make it 2-1.

Chelsea took a point from the game when Axel Disasi got the equalising goal in the 83rd minute. The result leaves the Blues in 11th place while the Bees stay in 15th place with 26 points.
