Premier League Announces Shocking Name as Player of the Season

The Premier League have named Manchester City's maestro midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne as the best player of this season (2021/22).

The announcement was made on the official website of the Premier League on Saturday, May 21st, 2022. Kevin De Bruyne has been a key part of the Cityzens quest in retaining the Premier League title, he scored 15 goals and also has seven assists to his name in the league this season.

The Belgian joins the class of players that have won the award more than once, the last time, he won the award was in the 2019/20 football season. Other players that have won the award include Cristiano Ronaldo, Thiery Henry and Nemanja Matic.

He beat Mohamed Salah, Trent-Alexander Arnold, Jarrod Bowen, Joao Cancelo, Bukayo Saka, Son Heung-Min and James Ward-Prowse to win the award.

De Bruyne will hope the award can be crowned with a Premier League title when Manchester City play Aston Villa on the final day of the season. The victory will mean Manchester City have won the league title six times.
