Phillipe Coutinho Joins Aston Villa on Loan from Atletico Madrid

Barcelona's midfielder, Phillipe Coutinho has joined Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season.

Aston Villa confirmed the news on their official website on Friday, January 7th, 2022. According to reports from the club, Villa and Countinho have agreed on a personal deal after direct contact between both parties. The deal is subject to medical within the next 48 hours.

Coutinho left Liverpool in 2018 for Barcelona but the transfer did not go well as expected between both parties. He was later sent on loan to Bayern Munich in 2019 with an option to buy but the Bundesliga club decided not to trigger that part of the deal.

Aston Villa are expected to pay the huge part of Countinho's salary during the loan time with the Premier League side. The Brazilian scored 41 goals and 35 assists in 152 Premier League games while he was at Liverpool.
