Manchester City supporters were hit with heartbreaking news after the club's manager, Pep Guardiola confirmed that the team will be without Rodri when they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Pep Guardiola was speaking in a pre-match conference ahead of his first game of the 2024/25 Premier League season as he looks to defend his title. According to him, Manchester City will be without its midfield engine, Rodri due to lack of match fitness.

He said,

"He had zero training sessions with us, he’s not ready."

Rodri was instrumental in Spain's success at the Euro 2024 competition which they won at the expense of England in the final. The absence of the Spaniard will be a big blow to Manchester City as they face a Chelsea team that has a new manager, Enzo Maresca.

City could also be without Phil Foden and Oscar Bobb, the former, due to his time with England at the Euros, while the latter has been ruled out for at least three months after he picked up an injury in the club's training session.

"We hope to see Oscar Bobb back in three or four months. It was in the training session, and unfortunately had a big impact on his injury. I think he will do surgery this afternoon”.

Manchester City supporters will hope they get to see their squad back in its full strength.
