Paris 2024: Noah Lyles wins Olympics 100-meter men's final

It was a good day for the United States of America as sprinter Noah Lyles won the men's 100-metre Olympic title on Sunday at Stade de France in Paris 2024 Olympic games.

The Paris 2024, 100-meter race was the anticipated around the world as everyone wanted to know who will emerge as the Champion. Noah Lyles posted a time of 9.784 to narrowly edge Jamaica's Kishane Thompson (9.789). American Fred Kerley finished in third place to win the bronze medal on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

Noah Lyles ran his personal best in the event before the final was a 9.81, which he posted at the London Athletics Meet in July 2024, At team trials, he posted a 9.83 before the Olympics in late June. He became the first American male sprinter in the past few years to win the men’s 100m Olympic title since Justin Gatlin in Athens 2004.

The American was seeded in the semi-final in the same heat as Oblique Seville who defeated him a few months ago at the Jamaican Grand Prix. Seville won the race with a Personal Best (PB) of 9.81s while Lyles clocked a 9.83s.

On the other hand, Thompson ran the fastest time overall in his heat with a time of 9.80s, with Fred Kerley staying close at 9.84s. Akani Simbine claimed his heat over Letsile Tebogo in 9.87s to 9.91s. Lyles did not start thr race with intent mark where he accelerated from 7th to 3rd place. In the last few meters, he caught up with Thompson, who held on to the lead in most part of the race to dip across the finish line

Lyles ran a 10.04 in his quarterfinal heat, sandwiched between Louie Hinchliffe (Great Britain) who put up a 9.98 and Shaun Maswanganyi (South Africa) who put up a 10.06. mark where he accelerated from 7th to 3rd place. In the last few meters, he caught up with Thompson, who held on to the lead in most part of the race to dip across the finish line
