The Super Falcons of Nigeria's Olympics Paris 2024 campaign suffers a huge blow ahead of the final set of qualifiers against rivals South Africa.

According to official reports, Nigeria's centre-back Ashleigh Plumptre will not be able to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games qualifier against South Africa due to an injury. This news comes as a blow to the team as Plumptre is an experienced player.

Jumoke Alani has been named as a replacement for Plumptre. Randy Waldrum, the head coach of the Nigerian team, will have to make changes to the team's defence, as Oluwatosin Demehin and Rofiat Imuran are already out of the game with injuries.

With Plumptre out of the game, Osinachi Ohale is the only experienced centre-back in the team. The Super Falcons have already started their preparations for the qualifiers, with the team opening its camp on Sunday.

This would be a huge miss for the Super Falcons of Nigeria looking to secure one of the tickets for Africa at the 2024 Olympics which would be held in Paris, France in July 2024.
