Paris 2024: Favour Ashe qualify for Olympics 100 meters semi-final

The duo reprsenting team Nigeria, Kanyinsola Ajayi and Favour Ashe booked their spot in the semi-finals of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games as they qualified from their heats of the men’s 100-meter race.

The surprise package of the semi-final heat was Kanyinsola Ajayi as he emerged the winner in heat 5, having defeated the reigning Olympic Champion, Marcell Jacobs, to take the win in 10.02s Jacobs came in second place with 10.05s, while Abdul Rasheed Saminu came in third place with 10.06s at the Paris 2024.

Ashe qualified from his heat as the fastest non-automatic spot after placing 4th in heat 4 with a time of 10.16, placing behind Oblique Seville (9.99s), Hakim Sani Brown (10.02) and Puripol Boonson (10.13s).

Both athletes representing team Nigeria are competing at their first ever Olympic Games, they are part of top 27 athletes in the world.

When is the Paris 2024 100-meter semi-final and final race?

The semi-final and final race will take place on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

Nigerians will hope that one or both athletes can finish on the medal podium.
