It has been reported that former Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solkjaer, may be making a return to the managerial position ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Evening Standard confirmed thay the Canadian national team has contacted the 51-year-old Norwegian to lead their team to the men's senior World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

The competition will feature games played in Vancouver and Toronto. Canadian soccer has been experiencing a golden era, having qualified for the first World Cup in 36 years in 2022 under the leadership of their previous coach, John Herdman.

However, Herdman left the job last year to become the boss of MLS side Toronto FC. In the interim, Mauro Biello has taken over as Canada's coach. If Solkjaer accepts the job offer, this will mark his first time leading a national team.
