Oliver Kahn Explains Why Bayern Munich Sacked Julian Nagelsmann
The director of Bayern Munich, Oliver Kahn has explained why the club decided to terminate Julian Nagelsmann's contract.
Kahn was speaking in an interview with SportBild where he as asked about the club's decision to sack the German midway into the season. He said, the club took the decision following a series of poor results despite having a plan to stick with him for a long time.
I understand that this question would be asked. But we spoke about it enough. Due to the results and fluctuating performances, we reached a point where we had to act. The leak that made it public was out of our control and we didn't like it. We had believed in the future with Julian Nagelsmann. But things developed in a different way that we had imagined. You have to make a decision. The results and the form simply weren't consistent. We lost a 10-point lead to Dortmund. Just for that, the decision was the right one.
Bayern hired Thomas Tuchel as a replacement for Nagelsmann but the former Chelsea manager has failed to hit the ground running since his appointment. The Bavarians currently lead the league table with one point ahead of Dortmund with five games until the end of the season.
