Chelsea Goalkeeper Contract

London giants, Chelsea Football Club, has handed one of its three first-team goalkeepers a three years contract extension that would keep him at the club till 2026.

In an official statement released by the club today, Monday, March 27, 2023, the Blues confirmed that Marcus Bettinelli who had joined the blues in 2021, had signed a new contract that would keep him at the club till 2026.

The statement revealed:

Marcus Bettinelli has signed a contract with Chelsea which extends his stay at Stamford Bridge until at least the summer of 2026. The goalkeeper joined Chelsea in 2021, moving across west London from neighbours Fulham, where he had spent the previous 10 years.

Bettinelli has added strength to our goalkeeping options over the last two years, working with Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy, while featuring among our substitutes on a regular basis in the Premier League, Champions League and domestic cup competitions.

The 30-year-old also has a winner’s medal from last year’s FIFA Club World Cup, where he was on the bench for both the semis and the final, as we beat Palmeiras to lift that trophy for the first time in our history.

Bettinelli also revealed why he made this choice. He revealed:

It is a privilege to be at a club like Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and a couple of years ago when I signed I was delighted to be here, delighted to sign. To be here now and see the club going through this transition and seeing what we are developing, it is amazing to be a part of and I am buzzing to be here for an extra couple of years.’
