OFFICIAL: Chelsea's Quest to Sign Jules Kounde Comes to an End

Barcelona Football Club have announced that an agreement has been reached in principle with Sevilla for the signing of Jules Kounde.

The announcement was on the official website of the Catalonia giants on Thursday, July 28th, 2022. However, the completion of the deal is pending on the player passing his medical and signing the contract.

Kounde's transfer has been one of the most interesting in recent following the tussle between Chelsea and Barcelona. The Blues have been interested in signing the French defender since the summer of the last transfer window.

The defender's form last season got him a place in the French national team. He made his debut during friendly games in the run up to the UEFA European Championship. He was also part of the squad that lifted the UEFA Nations League after beating Spain in the final.

The 23-year-old is the third defender Barcelona have signed this transfer window, the other defenders are Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen from AC Milan and Chelsea respectively.
