Nottingham Forest receives verdict on its appeal against the points deduction

SHARE

Nottingham Forest, a football team facing relegation, has lost an appeal regarding a four-point deduction for breaching the profitability and sustainability rules (PSR).

Renowned sports journalist David Ornstein confirmed this news on his official account on May 7, 2024. An independent commission appointed by the Premier League deducted four points from Forest's initial accumulated points.

Forest could have faced a six-point deduction, but the punishment was reduced after the club admitted to spending over £34.5 million over three seasons. The points were reduced to four because of their early plea and cooperation with the Premier League.

Currently, Forest sits in 17th place on the league table, three points ahead of Luton Town in 18th place, with two matches remaining in the season.
