Christopher Nkunku bags legendary jersey number at Chelsea FC

Following the official confirmation of his signing by Chelsea FC, Christopher Nkunku has been awarded a legendary jersey number at the club.

Christopher Nkunku has been confirmed and unveiled as Chelsea FC's first signing of the summer ahead of the 2023/2024 season, and the French international has been awarded a legendary jersey number at the club.

Nkunku would wear the historic numbed 18 jersey for Chelsea, the number which was previously held by Armando Broja.

The jersey has been worn by some of the biggest names at the club and they include:

Wayne Bridge (2003-2008)

Eddie Newton (1993-1996)

Erland Johnsen (1996-1997)

Andy Myers (1997-1999)

Gabriele Ambrosetti (1999-2001)

Albert Ferrer (2001-2002)

Sebastian Kneissl (2002-2003)

Ricardo Quaresma (2008-2009)

Yuriy Zhirkov (2009-2011)

Romelu Lukaku (2011-2014)

Loic Remy (2014)

Nkunku shared his thoughts about his move from RB Leipzig to Chelsea, and he revealed that he was excited about the move and emphasised his desire to take on a new challenge. He said, 'I am incredibly happy to be joining Chelsea. A big effort was made to bring me to the club and I am looking forward to meeting my new coach and teammates and showing the Chelsea supporters what I can do on the pitch.  Having played in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, I now want to play in the Premier League, one of the strongest leagues in the world. I am very excited for this challenge and will be proud to wear the Chelsea shirt.'
