Nigeria gets new opponents in fresh U-20 AFCON 2025 draw

U-20 AFCON 2025 record champions, the Flying Eagles of Nigeria have received new opponents following the fresh draws for the tournament.
Nigeria’s U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, now finds itself facing Tunisia, Morocco, and Kenya in Group B of the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations (AFCON). This change follows the withdrawal of Côte d’Ivoire as hosts, leading to a redraw. The tournament will now take place in Egypt from April 27 to May 18, with expectations of intense competition.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed Egypt as the new host after the Ivorian Football Federation stepped down due to logistical issues. The redraw, held at the Egypt Football Association headquarters in Cairo, restructured the groups.
Group A will feature Egypt, Zambia, South Africa, Sierra Leone, and Tanzania. Defending champions Senegal lead Group C, alongside the Central African Republic, DR Congo, and Ghana. Nigeria, which was initially scheduled to face Egypt and South Africa, now competes against North African giants Tunisia and Morocco, as well as East Africa’s rising challenger, Kenya. The top two teams from each group will secure automatic spots in the quarter-finals.
