New head coach stirs the pot with England's squad selection

The new head coach of England Lee Carsley has stirred the pot with his squad selection for the upcoming September 2024 international break.

Lee Carsley has announced the first England squad of the post-Gareth Southgate era, taking charge on an interim basis for the upcoming Nations League fixtures (September 2024 international break) against Ireland and Finland.

Notably absent from the squad are Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, Kyle Walker, and James Maddison. However, Jack Grealish and Harry Maguire have been recalled after missing out on Euro 2024.

The squad also features a number of young talents, with Tino Livramento and Morgan Gibbs-White among the Under-21 stars called up. Noni Madueke and Angel Gomes have received their first senior call-ups as well.

In related news, Kieran Trippier announced his retirement from international football ahead of the squad reveal. Additionally, Ivan Toney, Joe Gomez, Aaron Ramsdale, and Lewis Dunk have been omitted from the squad after being part of the Euro 2024 lineup.
