Aurelio De Laurentiis

I AM NOT ANTONIO RUDIGER – KALIDOU KOULIBALY

The 73-year-old was speaking in a streamed event where he confirmed that no one should talk to him about signing African players. However, he expressed his love for those who are currently at his club but gave a condition before he will sign anyone from the continent.

I told them, "lads, don't talk to me about Africans anymore. I love them, but either they sign something confirming they'll back out of playing the Africa Cup of Nations, or otherwise between that tournament, the World Cup qualifiers in South America, these players are never available. We are the idiots who pay salaries only to send them all over the world playing for others.

Napoli former player, Kalidou Koulibaly was out of action for the club for a month following Senegal's participation at the Africa Cup of Nations. The Naples almost missed out on Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen but was ruled out of the African Cup of Nations because he tested positive for Covid-19.
