Manchester United ended the unbeaten run of Liverpool Football Club in the Premier League this Calendar year (2002).

Both Liverpool and Manchester came into the game in desperate need of a win following the results in their opening two games in the Premier League season. The Red Devils came in with zero points having lost their games to Brighton and Brentford, conceding 6 goals and scoring just one.

Manchester United won the game with by two goals to one with of the goals for the Red Devils came in each half of the game. Jordan Sancho scored the opening goal in the first 15 minutes while the second goal came in the first 15 minutes of the second half from Marcos Rashford.

Liverpool came into the game without a win in the league having drawn their opening two games against Fulham and Crystal Palace. However, the Reds were favourites to win the game following the Red Devils failure to keep a clean sheet in their last 15 Premier League games.
