Chelsea's manager, Mauricio Pochettino has cleared the air over the future of Conor Gallagher at the club as he gets closer to the end of his contract.

The Argentine international was speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of the club's FA Cup clash against Preston. According to him, the club is happy with Conor Gallagher but both parties will have to discuss his future.

"Conor has a year and a half on his contract. And when you arrive at this point it's normal to talk and take a decision for the future. This is going to be between the club and the player. But nothing to announce. The club is happy with him and he is happy here."

There have been rumours concerning the future of Chelsea's assistant captain at the club. The England International has been in fantastic form for Chelsea since the beginning of this season ( 2023/24).

He also spoke about the possibility of Chelsea signing players during the 2024 January transfer window.

"We need to sit together in an official meeting. Now the market is open, and there are some players we own, like Andrey Santos who is back from Nottingham Forrest and we need to take a decision. But I am happy with the squad we have."

There have been suggestions from most Chelsea supporters that the club needs to sign a prolific goal-scorer because of their inability to score enough goals to win games despite the number of chances created in every game.
